Closing & Period-end
At period end, revenue and expense are carried forward to give the result for the period. This screen does it in three clear steps — preview, run, and only then lock.

| 2. Preview closing | Lists the closing entries that would be made, writing nothing. |
| 3. Carry forward only | Posts the closing entries and leaves the period open for changes. |
| 4. Close & Lock period | Posts the closing entries and locks the period. |
The order to work in
- Confirm the period is clean in ledger reconciliation — both unposted counters at 0.
- Click Preview closing and read the planned entries.
- Click Carry forward only if you still want to look at the financial statements before committing.
- Once the figures look right, Close & Lock period.
Preview first, always
The two live buttons only light up after you have run Preview closing for that period — the software wants you to have seen the entries before they are written.
Locking fixes the period's figures
After Close & Lock period the period is locked: the figures stand, so a statement printed today and the same one printed next month agree. To reopen it, use Accounting Period Lock.
